8.2/10 – After a long hiatus, I am back with 7 more pints to review. I noticed some of these awhile ago, but was fascinated by some newer ones that I hadn’t seen before, so I bought all 7 and brought them home today.
I love the name of this one and the taste is quite good too! The base is very tasty, the cake chunks are tender (?), and the honeycomb swirl is a sweet treat to bring everything together. I was surprised to have gotten quite a few cake chunks while eating. Usually, the fun bits aren’t that plentiful, but it was close to every spoonful having some cake, if not 2. Thankfully, this wasn’t an overpowering kind of sweet. It’s just sweet enough to keep you eating. I ended up eating half the pint and will probably finish the rest later this evening.
If you followed my reviews in the past, you’ll notice that I finally condensed all the pints into one photo. I am still working on the spreadsheet. Click on my profile then use the search icon to search ‘freezer’ and all my Van Leeuwen reviews will pop up.
Also, I noticed Kroger released some Dr. Suess flavors. I don’t have a Kroger near me so if someone would be willing to ship them in a foam cooler with dry ice, I’d be happy to pay whatever it costs and some extra for yourself. I’d love to review them!

This is important science, thank you.
have you had jenis version of this? hows it compare? not that i can find van leeuwens in stores anywhere nearby anyway…
Ooh I’ve never seen this flavor! I always buy Ooey Gooey Butter Cake in any brand I can find. I am kind of split on Van Leeuwen tbh. I generally like their ice cream but I find something about it causes me a little GI upset and I always have a strange aftertaste after eating it. I am wondering if it’s the extra egg? I’m looking forward to your reviews though because I am still interested in trying other flavors.
Yay! Glad the VL reviews are back! I am sad my Walmart used to carry tons of VL flavors and now don’t even carry VL 😢. Krogers only carries a few flavors, at least at all the ones by me.
