I tossed just in case.

Seems like corrosion or something? I didnt see any black stuff through the beans. Smelled fine, seemed okay otherwise.

I used the USDA canned pinto hot pack recipe iirc, these are from November. I know for certain I followed an approved recipe but I dont have the exact link.

    It looks like small imperfections in the underside of the lid exposed the metal to corrosion. I do see this sometimes and I dont think its a problem. I wouldn’t try to reuse this lid, just toss it

    It’s never 100% with a picture, but once you’ve seen mold on the lid of a jar (especially leftovers), you know what not-mold looks like by process of elimination.

    Statistically you don’t usually find a spec of mold, you find a splotch, or possibly a village.

    That said, if you’re planning on feeding this to your 93 year old gam gam, nobody here is gonna tease you for sticking this one in the fridge to inflict on yourself tomorrow and open a second jar now.
