My tastebuds say aged Cote Rotié, Dommiane Jamet would be a good start, ive not had the chance to try any of the guigal la-… wines with any age. They are way out of my pricerange.
Empyrius
Château Mouton Rothschild. I’d also add that it looks expensive, given the annually changing bottle art.

Domaine de la Romanee-Conti (any bottling)
Duh answer, I know, but it’s impressive to have *that* reputation and *those* prices and just smash it out of the park constantly.
Every time I’ve tasted DRC (granted, I’ve never had the pleasure of a La Tache or RC), I’ve been impressed by how they manage to integrate 100% new oak and whole cluster into a wine that feels plush (yet somehow also ethereal) and well-integrated when young, yet still manages to age beautifully. It’s freaking magic.
And on top of that, you have a ton of precision and terroir expressiveness, plus perfume, intensity of fruit, a long, elegant finish. It’s all there.

Coche-Dury Meursault.
No grand cru vineyard, no marketing machine, no explanation. Just a farmer in Burgundy making white wine that the entire market eventually had to reckon with. The price found the wine, not the other way around.
DRC and first growth Bordeaux are the answers when you haven’t thought about it long enough.

Opus One is one of the most expensive I’ve tasted so I’ll go with that, but that’s mostly based on lack of exposure to expensive wines lol.

I don’t think any wine tastes like a 5-digit price tag

Krug is the best widely known example. Otherwise it’s PYCM Corton-Charlemagne/BM etc
Ok_Understanding3748
# Doubleback Cabernet Sauvignon Walla Walla Valley
22goblins
Marchesi Antinori Badia A Passignano, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. the best sangiovese Ive had that wasnt a Brunello. Had the mouthfeel I typically associate with really high end wines and the balance was flawless, even better with some age on it

Thierry Allemand Cornas. Damn near impossible to find, but an absolute gem of a wine.
