The Slice House from top Bay Area pizzaiolo Tony Gemignani will finally bring its wide-ranging menu of pizza styles to San Jose.
Marketing signs posted on a business front at the San Jose Marketcenter on Coleman Avenue announce the pending arrival of a Slice House franchise. The space, which has been vacant for many months, was formerly home to Blaze Pizza, a design-your-own concept that counted NBA star LeBron James among its early investors.
A summer opening is envisioned, according to a Slice House representative, with an array of New York, Sicilian, Grandma and Detroit-style pizzas sold by the slice or the whole pie.
Gemignani launched a franchise system in 2022 after successfully launching the slice model in San Francisco, then testing it in other markets including Walnut Creek.
One of the newest pizzerias is in Millbrae, and many other locations are in the works. The Yuksel family operates that restaurant in addition to the ones in Belmont and San Francisco’s Haight district.
Millbrae opened in late February with a special slice named after franchisee Ron Yuksel. The “Hot Ron,” developed by Gemignani and the Yuksel family, is a New York-style slice topped with hot honey sausage, pepperonata, roasted red bell pepper, three cheeses (mozzarella, ricotta, Romano), basil and oregano, and finished with hot pepper and garlic oil.
Details: The San Jose Slice House will be located at 685 Coleman Ave. The new Peninsula location is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 357 El Camino Real, Millbrae. slicehouse.com
