valentine’s day cake

homemade two layer red velvet cake with homemade ermine buttercream.

this was only the second cake my boyfriend and i made! although this is the first cake that we made to really test our decorating skills and see how good of a cake we could make. we started on valentine’s day, and completed it the following night. the cakes were 9 inch round cakes that we cut into the shape of a heart, which worked out perfectly. the cake and icing were wonderful, and we are looking forward to making the next one!
