In 2026, Rocca Trattoria continues to cement its reputation as a cherished destination for those seeking authentic and affordable Italian cuisine in a warm, intimate atmosphere.
Conveniently located in the Gateway Plaza at the corner of Sample Road and Federal Highway, this inviting neighborhood eatery pairs time-honored recipes with genuine hospitality. The cozy dining room, complemented by friendly service and relaxed elegance, creates an ambiance that encourages guests to linger and savor.
“We have been open for several years now in this beautiful area,” says chef and co-owner Moises Cruz. “We are truly grateful for all the wonderful support we have received from the community since coming to Lighthouse Point.”
Cruz and his family have brought their love for Italian cooking to life through an array of mouthwatering creations. With a commitment to fresh ingredients and traditional techniques, they have crafted a menu that captures the essence of Italy.
Rocca Trattoria’s Chef Moises shows off his popular pasta bolognese and chicken Francese.
Among the appetizers, the homemade meatballs stand out. Simmered in a rich tomato sauce, these tender, flavorful creations are crafted from a blend of high-quality meats and seasoned to perfection.
“Our meatballs are made with three different types of meat – beef, veal, and pork,” says Chef Moises. “They are extremely popular.”
Other noteworthy starters include white wine garlic clams, crispy fried calamari, eggplant rollatini, fresh burrata finished with balsamic reduction, Caprese salad with ripe tomatoes and fragrant basil, and daily house-made soups inspired by seasonal ingredients. “Everything is made fresh in-house,” says Moises. “And our portions are quite generous, especially our pasta plates.”
Pasta favorites include linguine alle vongole tossed with tender clams, lobster ravioli in a delicate sauce, spaghetti Bolognese rich with slow-cooked meat, pappardelle amatriciana with its savory tomato base, and hearty house-made lasagna layered to perfection.
Smothered in tangy tomato sauce with ricotta cheese, the tender homemade meatballs are made with beef, veal, and pork.
The gnocchi quattro formaggi is another crowd-pleaser. Pillowy potato dumplings are enveloped in a velvety four-cheese sauce blending gorgonzola, parmesan, mozzarella, and fontina – indulgent and deeply satisfying.
Seafood enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy, from expertly grilled salmon and branzino to creamy fettuccine Alfredo topped with jumbo shrimp and the hearty Zuppa di Pesce brimming with fresh seafood. Each dish showcases freshness, balance, and thoughtful preparation.
“We also have amazing daily specials,” says Moises. “For example, today we have grilled octopus, shrimp and scallop Oreganata, sole Marichiatto, grilled filet mignon, and chicken Caprese.”
Guests craving classic Italian meat dishes gravitate toward the veal Saltimbocca, layered with prosciutto and sage in a delicate white wine butter sauce. Chicken specialties such as Scarpariello, Marsala, Francese, and the ever-popular chicken parmigiana consistently earn rave reviews for their comforting flavors executed with finesse.
“We also make outstanding oven-baked, thin-crust 14-inch personal pizzas,” adds Moises. “The meat lovers, Capricciosa, pepperoni, and vegetarian are all big sellers.”
The fettuccine Alfredo with jumbo shrimp is a customer favorite.
Appetizers are priced around $15, while pizza and pasta dishes start at $14. Large entrées, served with soup and garlic bread, begin at $23. The lunch menu, offered at nearly half-price, includes a variety of wraps and sandwiches. Happy Hour runs from 4 to 6:30 p.m., featuring discounted wine and beer.
Several vegetarian options are available, and specialty dishes such as Osso Bucco, short ribs, or lamb shanks can be ordered in advance. Rocca Trattoria also offers occasional live music, comfortable outdoor seating, ample free parking, and a comprehensive catering menu for events of all sizes.
To conclude on a sweet note, guests are encouraged to indulge in one of the many homemade desserts, including Italian cheesecake, crème brûlée, limoncello, profiteroles, sorbetto, or the award-winning tiramisu layered with espresso-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone cream. Buon appetito!
