Fresh pasta is on the menu at Reno’s Discovery Museum as an Italian restaurant known for using organic ingredients opens a new location downtown.

The latest experiment at Reno’s downtown science museum involves something foodies will be familiar with — fresh pasta.

More accurately, it’s Pasta Fresca, which just opened a restaurant inside The Discovery, formerly the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum.

Pasta Fresca opened its original location on Lakeside Drive in 2020.

Since then, the restaurant has developed a reputation for its pastas and sauces, which are made in-house from scratch with organic ingredients such as Italian flour. The restaurant also tries to source ingredients locally when possible.

The same attention to detail from owner Paolo Nicoletta will be seen at the second location at the museum, according to The Discovery. Pasta Fresca Downtown will be open seven days a week, serving lunch and dinner.

In addition to Nicoletta’s signature pastas, Past Fresca Downtown will serve sandwiches, salads and paninis. Other options include desserts and a selection of beer and wine.

Past Fresca Downtown will also offer a kids’ menu with three choices of pasta plus several sauce options such as marinara or butter.

“You can build your own pasta dish from a variety of noodle styles, sauces and protein options, with plenty of combinations to choose from,” The Discovery noted in its announcement about the restaurant.

“There are also specialties … like lasagna, ravioli and spaghetti.”

For folks in a hurry, Pasta Fresca will also have premade sandwiches, fresh pasta and ready-to-cook pasta available to go.

Pasta Fresca Downtown is at 490 S. Center St. It will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Discovery museum members who show proof of membership will receive an 8% discount.
