A couple of years ago, my wonderful wife set up a beautiful coffee corner for me.
Sadly I ran out of space and couldn't find a small enough sideboard I liked. We decided to order a cut to order acrylic board. Had two holes cut in the back for cables and incorporated the old sideboard as storage. Kept the boards of course because they were a present from her. Added a simple IKEA wall and some lights.

Looks fantastic, clean upgrade and nice move to keep the original boards since they were a gift. The acrylic back with cable holes is smart and the lights really tie it together, props to your wife for the setup.

Inherited the Silvia from my dad and decided I couldn’t really give it away so I am selling the ECM and kept and modded the Silvia with the Gaggimate as a little memorial for our shared love for Espresso.

Cool to see a Vectis and a Silvia in the same frame. I didn’t realize that the Vectis was so skinny. Also nice to see side-by-side for depth comparison.
That’s a nice tidy and efficient coffee nook. Is a sink nearby?

  5. The new one looks so pretty, good job!

I think for my space I would prefer the old one tho. I love the plants and the cleaner, less cramped aesthetic. Making espresso is quite exhausting for me, so less clutter and the colder, brighter lighting help me stay focused.

“Fuck bugger”? Or is it just me that read the sign that way…….

IKEA Skadis are great! Possibly because I print the boards and mounts but versatile system you can add almost anywhere lol. They look awesome clear up a ton of space by using those walls. Tons of models out there for mounting everything you could ever want!

Beautiful! Did you read the book? Would you recommend it for a beginner that is not very familiar with the technical terms yet?

I like the before better. Seems cleaner and more cozy 🤷

I am debating buying a walnut slab from home depot or IKEA and building a small coffee station. This looks great.

What is that PID on the rancilio? I’m considering getting one and the only option I really found was the auber, which is much more chunky.

Infinite colors if you 3D print it! Libraries and maker spaces with printers are everywhere and tons of files online. Another hobby as bad as espresso but I think it’s genuinely useful for stuff like this since I mostly do functional prints. I’ve got custom mounts (vs the hooks or shelves) for my tamp/wdt/portafilters and what not. In rooms I’ve got the skadis panels on the wall to mount drones, camera gear, and 3d printing stuff. Printer basically paid for itself with all of the panels and mounts!
