Check the soil if possible. Permeability (water flowing), clay content, ph/acidity. All good factors for which type of vines to plant. We never know where the next great vineyard might be, good luck

Might be worth keeping some of the old vines around and seeing if they are rare, unusual, or unique varieties that have died out elsewhere. There are a good number of pretty important grapes that have been rediscovered in vineyards like this.

About 20 years ago, an aquaintence here in the US was trying to buy a vineyard near a small town in southern Czechia. Her RE agent told her that a lot of the towns important people, including the mayor, were very upset about the idea of an American buying it. So, she told her agent to start a rumor that she was intended to turn it into a brewery. Now, everyone was outraged and the mayor asked to meet the next time she came to town. At the meeting, the mayor expressed his upset over the brewery to which Maria responded, Brewery Why would I buy a vineyard and turn it into a brewery. I am a wine lover and I chose this region specifically. Thr mayor was so relieved that he became her biggest advocate…

Do you know what variety the grapes are? Is it worth keeping/propagating. Jealous of your new adventure, good luck!!
