Sorry i just got a new weber and i got these things with it. Can anyone tell me what this is for?

    This fits into the charcoal grate to allow you to gather coal in an area. They previously included baskets, and this is the replacement.

    It’s what they are using as replacement for the charcoal baskets. They are placed on the lower charcoal grate to act as a wall to do zone grilling.

    That is what Weber used on their 22-in or larger grills before the baskets were invented. One for the left one for the right. Play hook underneath the great and pressure from the charcoal kind of keeps them upright.

    These actually predate the aluminum baskets we now know today. Those came from the ’90s. But before that, this rack had two functions, holding charcoal against the sides creating two zone cooking on the lower charcoal rack, and use on the top rack together so that you could place more ribs on the grate. It would let them lean vertically.
