Just got a MEATER thermometer. The ambient is about 40 degrees off what the Traeger is showing. Which one should I believe?

Ive had this same predicament with the same equipment.. found out my traeger temp sensor is like 35° low which also explained why it took me forever to finish anything.

Always trust the MEATER thermometer over the Treager one. No idea why, but I have the same issue with the same equipment to the same degree of being off. But I’ve used a couple other thermometers as well and they all line up closer to the MEATER.

Believe the Meater.

Get a piece of scotch Brite and buff your inside thermometer clean.

Probably both are right. Ambient temp next to food will definitely be lower due to temperature if the meat.

I honestly hate meaters. Purchase an old school wired temperature probe. You’ll thank me.
