What the hell? How did you keep this secret for so long? It needs a bit more time, need to buy a case. Super fun wine. Apparently it can age for decades too?

This is my wife’s favorite bottle under $50

I dunno about decades, but you’re holding a bottle of Soave Classico made by one of the great producers of this region. This bottle is a winner year in and year out and everyone from wine pros to wine noobies love it.

If you like this a lot, you should check out their Calvarino and La Rocca bottlings, both of which have more going on and are more ageworthy than the basic Classico.

We’re on a Garganega journey too. This lovely bottle is a gateway drug

Hi. No real reason to age this Soave in my opinion. It drinks great fresh, widely available and is not expensive. Save your cellar space for other stuff.

    Love this wine tho.

I like this wine a lot, however I like the Otto Pra Soave Classico even better.

Superb producer, one of the veru best

Most mass produced Soave are crap, but Soave made by (few) serious producers are some of Italy’s best whites, together with Timorasso and Verdicchio.
And Pieropan is one those producers. If you haven’t done it yet, try also:

    – Pra
    – Inama

You might be thinking of Recioto di Soave which can age for a decade+ as it has an elevated residual sugar content. Also very delicious if you’re looking for a dessert wine.

Pieropan is a great producer and has been popular in Ireland for a long time, you see it on a lot of wine lists in Dublin restaurants. Their La Rocca is amazing. And to think Soave used to be crappy plonk.

I’ve got one 2020 magnum cellared, but I’m hesitant to open it 🥺. Not sure what to expect 😬.

If you can find an older vintage, get it. The 2024 isn’t drinking as well as it usually does
