Can't afford steaks at current prices. Pork steaks were $9 which we grilled at high heat (different spice blends); russet potatoes (a big bag was $4), pierced using a fork, tossed in oil and salt, and baked at 425 for 1 h; and brussel sprouts ($2?), halved, tossed in oil, baked at 425 for 30 min, and drizzled with balsamic and parmesan. Also got shredded cheese, green onions, and the "rotel tomatoes."

Your son is blessed to have you as parents. You showed you heard his wishes and then didn’t just say we can’t do that right now, you problem solved it! Not only did he get a great dinner but he learned that there are always other ways to do things. It is such an important mentality. And he is also learning the value of money. These are lessons the rich kids aren’t learning!

  3. Only thing I’d add is some sauteed onions and mushrooms to top the steaks with.

My husband prefers pork steaks over more expensive steaks. We just had them tonight. They were cheap and delicious!
