Disappointed, this was very bland. Chili crunch is hit or miss for me and it’s usually a miss. I really like Fly by Jing but it’s widely hated.

Why do you care what other people like?

  2. PreperationOuch

Why is Fly By Jing hated? I’ve not tried it yet.

  3. Are you supposed to use just the oil? Or the other bits in the jar as well?

Fly by jing uses too much of whatever ingredient causes that licorice flavor. Probably annise, I hate it

Wife just got me some Fly By Jing extra spicy chili crisp and it’s fucking GOOD. Fuck the haters

  6. Another day another new chilli crisp brand. Lao Gan Ma is all I need though.

My favorite part of the Fly By Jing chili crisp are the preserved black beans. They provide amazing bursts of flavor. I won’t try another chili crisp unless it has that too.

You should try to make it, super easy and then you can tweak it to your personal tastes. I REALLY like sichuan peppercorns so I put more in than any commercial product I’ve ever seen…I also like it much hotter than most commercial ones so use Xiao mi la chilis which are almost Thai Birds Eye hot.

This looks gentrified as fuck. The real shit like Lao Gan Ma tastes divine

Folks just make it at home, it’s literally zero effort and ALWAYS better than anything you could buy

Regardless of the brand, do you refrigerate or pantry yours?

This brand is delicious, way better than lao gan ma (hotter and more flavor) but also quite a bit pricier.

They’re local to Portland, Oregon but they have an online store so might ship elsewhere. Found them at a local farmers market…they are incredibly addictive, my daughter and I have went through almost half a jar in a few days.

Zindrew is a really good brand if you’re able to find it. The “X Batch” is their spicy one and it’s pretty spicy.

If you’re looking for heat and flavor, I found Dragonfly Thai chili crisp on I believe this subreddit and I’ve been using it since. Legit heat, super flavorful – use sparingly (or not).

I mess with chili crisp… is there one thats actually hot???

S&B is my favorite. I don’t even want anything other than their spicy garlic chili oil. It is so hard to not just blow through jars of that stuff.

This is hands down the best chili crisp on the market. Had it on a charcuterie and never looked back. Plus, it’s made here in Colorado.
