I planted a Thunder Mountain Longhorn as a last resort, and I wasn't paying it enough attention. It looks fine, though not fantastic, but it seems to have grown tall. Should I trim it back? Or should I just plant it deeper and this is a normal height for this pepper variety? It's about 30 cm from the fork.

Don’t think peppers sprout roots if you plant them down deeper. I’d add a pole to brace it and I wager it will toughen up over time if you get it more sun

i would definitely trim especially those flower buds, way too leggy to support any peppers right now

I grew this pepper last year and I’ll say it is a very tall and thin (aka leggy) plants under best conditions. At least when I grew it it was. It produced well but a few notes I’ll pass on. The pods are very heavy and when your plants starts producing the stalk will not do well. I would top it and try to force a smaller plant. Even if you get it into a good full sun and warm weather the stalk is to thin.

Yes…you should prune it back. It’s going to be top heavy very shortly and your current short stake will not support the top growth. I would also transplant it into a larger pot if possible. And if you look at your most recent growth on top…the misshapen newer growth is the sign of a recent watering issue. Whether over or under-watering or swings between both.
