Just back home in California from a great vacation in Thailand. Did some snorkeling, shopping with the wife lots of good food. Really excited as I brought back five 250 gram bags of fresh roasted coffee beans.

Ive just tried the Single Origin i bought in Chiang Mai grown in Chiang Rai roasted February 21. Its a dark roast and choked the first try so I opened up the grinder in my Maxim La Seine – more coarse than ive done before with 7sec pre infusion and was able to get 18.5 in 37 out 34 seconds. A really nice chocolaty cup.

Can't wait to try the other 4. They came from Summer Coffee in the Terminal 21 mall in Bangkok and were roasted February 26th. Two are a blend of Latin American and Thai beans. I don't know about the other two.

I paid $6.40 to $10 for these so not super cheap but the Single Origin that ive tried was $6.40 and great quality so a good deal

Now that’s what I call a good souvenir. Enjoy sipping these

Thai coffee is a whole vibe with that sweet, creamy, and bold flavor that instantly makes any morning feel a little more exotic.

I LOVE Thai coffee. I always stock up when I am there. So sad that the coffee market in Thailand is pretty much domestic only and that it is hard to find Thai origin beans outside the country.

Sounds good. Taste is everything, and that looks a good spread. I’m starting to favour single origin these days, but that doesn’t always mean single farm, so can be a blend of dozens of small growers at different altitudes in that origin.

Any issues at Customs bringing them in?

Just for reference, $6:40 for 250g is super cheap, well, in the UK anyway.

Here are just a few offerings in the UK. The first row are the cheapest I can find that are roasting daily and are consistent, are $9-10 for 250g ‘Taster Bags’. The Last one is James Hoffmann who is almost $26 for one bag, although his are 350g. Is it worth the difference, not sure my palate would know, to be honest.

Okayy, the coffee maybe even better for real, but the packaging 🥹🤌🏻
    It has my heart already!

  9. Thanks for the tip. Currently in Bangkok waiting for middle eastern air spaces to be reopened. There’s definitely worse places to be stuck in 😁
Have you checked out Roast8ry? They’re originally from Chian Mai but opened a location in Bangkok about a month ago, exceptional coffee.

The Mr Rum Raisin from summer coffee was one of my favorites that I brought back from my trip there a few years ago!

Thai designs are always on point. That whole region takes design super seriously and it shows.
