Gambero Rosso’s Tre Bicchieri Awards is the premiere wine event of the year for Italian wines. Presented each year at the Bridgeport Arts Center on the city’s southwest side, the event is the ultimate tasting of Italy’s highest-rated wines.
Many of the top Italian wineries poured wines that were awarded the coveted “Tre Bicchieri” (“three glass”) designation, by Italy’s Gambero Rosso, the food, wine and travel media conglomerate, similar to this country’s Food Network and Wine Spectator combined.
In addition to the scores of award-winning wines that were shown, some of the year’s “top value” wines from Italy were poured. This year’s special guests included the Unione Italiana Vini (UIV) and the Consorzio Tutela Vini D’Abruzzo the Italian wine consortium from the Abruzzo region of northern Italy.
Gambero Rosso was an opportunity to taste Italy’s “best of the best”, meet the winery representatives, and celebrate the release of the newest edition of Gambero Rosso’s legendary wine guide, the Vini d’Italia.
Featuring reviews of Italy’s finest wines, Vini d’Italia showcases interviews with the passionate individuals who devote their lives to winemaking.
Each year, the judges of Tre Bicchieri, comprising a team of more than 70 expert tasters, blind taste 45,000+ wines. Of these many thousands of wines, fewer than 1% achieve the Tre Bicchieri designation. For Italian wine producers, this is the Oscars of wine. For more visit gamberorosso international.com.
