Planning to buy this grill from Amazon, first time grilling. Would it be fine if I use this area to grill?

It would be touching the ground

You’re at risk for making amazing food if you do.

  2. You want to get those pine needles out of the way.

  3. SeaGroundbreaking708

The dead pine needles will be an issue. I’d definitely rake those up first. Then you should be good to go

  4. 122_Hours_Of_Fear

Buy a fire extinguisher. Everyone should own one.

Dry pine needles are super flammable kindling. Clear them out or just do it over the green grass area

  6. stlnthngs_redux

the issue will be loose charcoal landing on all that kindling. clean the area very well. get some pavers or pour a small conc slab. have a bucket of water/hose on stand by if something ignites.

You could use a blower to clear the needles which is the only fire hazard present. It could take only a minute or two

Personally I would never grill there without a cold beer

Just a little side note, if you decide to do mussels, there’s good recipes cooking them on those pine needles.

Looks like a fine place to enjoy your grill.

Maybe wet down the area beneath/around the grill before you start?

  11. Alternative_Step4625

Ehh just spray the area with water rq

In addition to or instead of what others have said, you could buy a few flat stones/brick-like things from Home Depot (I think they’re just a few bucks each) to make a little platform and put your grill on that.

Wait wait wait…how is your relationship with your neighbors? If you love them, say less…if you don’t like them..get a bigger grill to make them jealous.

Are those pine needles? I would highly recommend cleaning all that up before using a charcoal grill in that area. RIP to those buildings if one hot coal tumbles out into a massive pile of dry pine needles.

  15. Clear the pine needles, maybe place a fire resistant cover on the ground, make sure ground is level, have a hose and fire blanket near by. You should make sure the BBQ is locked into the ground somehow so it won’t accidentally tip. Could be catastrophic if you don’t do it safely. But you should be fine if you be cautious ✌🏽

I mean, fine *if* you’re not packing mortars or ammo in that building in the first photo. And I’d probably clear some of the debris for a good 10′ radius around the grill. Those needles and pine cones look like perfect kindling if a spark gets in there…

  17. CaptainJawny

Yeah, fuck it. Be smart about it and clear the area around where you’re grilling and keep an eye on everything. Before you know it you’ll be grilling delicacies all the time.

Yup and those pine needles actually make for a good accelerant. Ofc tidy the place up. I have BBQ’d accelerating wood burning with pine needles and it worked a treat. Also, the burn is so fast and fury it doesn’t even flavor your ingredients.. found this out when we couldn’t get rid if our Christmas tree one year..

  19. I don’t see anybody standing around wanting to stop you…

I would just sweep up. I’d be most worried starting my coals off and embers igniting the fallen pine needles that are everywhere.

When is the party? What should I bring with me?

  22. MoMoneyMoPowa

Yeah but i wouldnt trust a 26$ grill from amazon. Save your money and buy a webber theyre like 50$ more and double the size

  23. Severe-Rub-2862

Dont need a fire extinguisher lol just have your hose close by

  24. Dangerous-Ratio-6682

Just burn off all that ground cover first and it’ll be fine…./s

  25. Blackbyrn

Rake em up, wet the area, make a grilling stand area with large pavers. Doesn’t have to be fancy or large but hot coals and sparks will hit the ground and its’s best to cover.

  26. Legitimate-Wait-4881

    No, my backyard only.

    What are we having?

  27. Rich-Ad1974

Those super cheap grills are made out of super thin metal that doesn’t hold heat very well and doesn’t come with a temperature gauge both of these things won’t matter at first but eventually you’ll probably want to buy a better grill so if it’s in the budget I would recommend getting a better grill from the very start. You should definitely clean up those needles before grilling anything and maybe even wet the grass or get fancy and pick up a bag of peagravel scavenge some bricks and make a little area underneath the grill.

The pine needles are as good as any fire starters I’ve ever used and made 😅 Rake them up a bit further than 3ft away from your grill and you won’t have an issue but fire spreads quick so I’d clean them all up

  29. czubia6924

You can grill wherever your heart desires!!! You need to LIVE!!!! If you’re scared though (which is totally valid) get yourself a lil fire extinguisher, just to be safe, it never hurt no one to be safe

  30. TraPet33509

Fire is one thing but I imagine the Smokey smell will blend in with all the meth being made in that trailer park…no one will have a clue

  31. sdchilehead

Go on offer up or marketplace and get a used Weber kettle grill 22 inch you will thank me

  32. GrillinFool

And that 14 inch grill is good for like 1 burger patty and 2 ears of corn.
