An award-winning, family-owned restaurant at the centre of its village has been recognised as one of Britain’s standout French dining spots.
Bistrot Vérité, in Birkdale, has grown a loyal following since opening in 2009, welcoming dozens of diners each day.
Founded by Marc and Michaela Vérité, the business is now led by their sons, Jacques and Charlie, and its name has become closely associated with quality cooking throughout Southport.
Over the years the bistro has earned numerous honours, including a place in the Michelin Guide.
Sitting opposite Birkdale railway station, it now has further cause for celebration after being included in the prestigious Good Food Guide.
The guide recently highlighted 16 French-inspired restaurants across Britain, commending them for authentic menus and high standards – with Bistrot Vérité among those recommended.

Thrilled with the Good Food Guide recommendation, Jacques said: “We’re super honoured. On behalf of myself, my mum, my dad and my brothers, we want to thank our staff who we couldn’t have done this without.
“Everyone works so hard and we’re always pushing to be better. I want to thank our customers for continued support, our regulars and people who come from all over the place.
“We’re very fortunate to have a lot of people come from all over the North West and all over the country to eat here. If it wasn’t for their support, we couldn’t do this. So thank you again.”

Discussing the everyday workings of the family business, Jacques previously told the ECHO: “We work really well together as a family and a team. Everyone has their own ideas.
“We listen to each other and have patience. It’s nice that we all do it together. It’s good. You speak to a lot of people who say they could never work with their family but we can.
“Without that respect for one another, it can’t be done. It can be challenging, don’t get me wrong. Even though we’re [Jacques and Charlie] the youngest our parents listen to us.”
Jacques added: “We have a really good relationship with the community The location is amazing with us being in the middle of Birkdale and across from the train station. People come from Liverpool and Formby.”
