The Italian restaurant has explained why it was given lowly rating

A Calderdale restaurant says “it wasn’t fair at all” to be handed a zero food hygiene rating.
Bellisa Italian restaurant in Northowram, near Halifax, received the rock bottom rating from Calderdale Council on January 29. The council told the restaurant that “urgent improvement” was needed in relation to food hygiene and safety.
The restaurant has put the blame on a faulty water boiler which they said stopped working the day before the inspector’s visit. A restaurant spokesperson said that on the day of the council’s visit the premises did not have hot water due to “boiler issues”.
The spokesperson said they had explained to the inspector that they had placed an order for a new boiler and that it was going to be fitted the following day, “but unfortunately still we have (been) given zero rating.”

The restaurant has paid for a new inspection and is expecting an updated rating in the near future. Asked if the zero rating was fair or unfair, the restaurant spokesperson said: “…it wasn’t fair at all even after showing all proof of new boiler on next day but we felt like we been treated fairly.”
Bellisa has an average rating on Google of 4.6/5 from seven reviews. The average rating on TripAdvisor is 3.8/5 from 55 reviews.
