I made a tamper from nuts and bolts I found around the house and a spare pot lid I had. Pretty happy with it other that the weight. The lid is hollow unfortunately, I'm contemplating filling that coffee for a little more weight.

Doesn’t that rounded edge on the bottom mean you don’t actually get a flat surface to the puck?

I’m confused why everyone so personally offended you didn’t spend $20. My guy used his free will to make something unique and cool and we’re mad?? Where’s our whimsy and creativity?? I wish more people were crafty and reused things other than IMMEDIATELY resorting to spending money and getting mad you didn’t join them. On the other hand I agree the edges won’t be tamped though. You should spend $20 on a tamper and drill a hole into it to attach this tower of bolts and nuts.
