At what point in life does taking 100 boxes of soda seem like a good idea?

I enjoy a cold Dr. Pepper, but damn.

  2. This is going to be harder merchandise to move than the seller thinks.

Most soda fountain systems in the US are not actually owned by the store or restaurant in question – they’re owned by the soda distributor, and the restaurant or store is required to purchase exclusively from said distributor in exchange for use of the distributor’s hardware.

The distributor is going to notice if the store suddenly stops ordering Dr. Pepper, while they keep ordering the same amount of 7-Up they always do.

Though, maybe, it goes unnoticed in the recent chaos. Dr. Pepper used to be distributed by Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling in 10 states, but a Texas court ruling ended that deal last year, and Keurig-Dr. Pepper (KDP) is now going to be doing its own distribution in those 10 states.

That actually might be how these syrups got “lost.” They were probably manufactured and distributed by Reyes Coca-Cola under license, and when that deal ended, retailers may have been instructed to return or destroy any existing product.

OP – do we know if the seller is in California, Nevada, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois or Tennessee?

Throw in a Flo Jet and we got a deal!

I know a pretty well off guy who has a soda machine in his home bar, he’d probably snatch a couple up

Get these from Sysco all the time. Nothing special about them.

  6. are they really $125/cost? Makes me think of the time someone tried to open the box with a pen.

    This is crazy.

For those who don’t know these are commonly referred to as “BIBs” or Bag In Box. If you need a different reference for how much Dr. Pepper that is take five paint cans and then consider that it’s Dr. Pepper SYRUP.

I think the proper ratio for the syrup is something like 15:1 as in 15 parts soda and 1 part syrup. One of those boxes is equivalent to 75 paint cans of soda.

    Enjoy.

A movie theater I worked at had a coca cola bib connecter that always leaked a bit and underneath it the concrete floor had pitting in it about 1/2 inch deep, that stuff leaks, it will fuck up just about anything

The shelf life on these things is only a few months. Good luck.

Most soda fountains are leased as part of an exclusive deal with a distributor. Your distributor is absolutely going to notice if your orders drop significantly. Not worth the risk for a restaurant to use some “fell off the back of the truck” product.

Not to mention the liability if those are in any way adulterated and someone gets sick.

These expire much quicker than people think.

  13. That ain’t soda, that’s straight soda syrup. Lot of messed of shit you can do with pure uncut soda syrup.

not a bad purchase for the right restaurant owner but $125 apiece is steep for something of dubious origin like this. they’re going to have to cut that a lot to get people to buy it from a stranger on facebook marketplace instead of just getting it from the usual distributor.
