I am just starting to make espresso at home and I saw someone on here say that people should use most of their budget on their grinder. Is this okay?

This is fucking amazing. This is like putting a Lamborghini engine in a golf cart

    …….. wrong sub.

but in all seriousness. Bambino Plus does 90% of the job and will pull decent shots. the last 10% that it lacks is probably thermal stability, pressure/flow profiling. Which honestly most people could live without.

A good espresso is probably closer to 50% bean, 45% grinder, 5% espresso machine. imho

This photo is missing a Dunkin’ Donuts French Roast bag roasted 6 months ago.

Not good enough, you need a better grinder for that setup.

No, if you’re not using a Hario Skerton, you’re not drinking coffee.

You have Sey, but you don’t have Saka. Not quite my tempo.

Is this your real setup or has your new machine just not came in yet? I was thinking about doing something similar lol

    Ehh, its okay.

If you want a decent change, we can trade grinders. Mine is a bit smaller so you can get more counter top space back.

Everybody always says to spend more on the grinder but when someone actually does it they still get bent. Great setup. Honestly even if I had this with an E61 machine in the cupboard I would use the Bambino. I’m not on a regular enough schedule to deal with a smart plug and the super short heat up time of the Bambino has ruined me for boiler machines. I’d be amazed if someone could tell if an espresso was made with a thermojet or a boiler in a blind taste.

It’s not okay. You were supposed to buy it for *me*

It’ll do as a starter grinder until you can upgrade.

I think you’re gonna get better shots than a local café can pull with a $20,000 machine with this set up consistently. You won’t be able to pull a shot after shot without waiting in between like they can but you’re on something here and if you had $4000 to spend on the grinder I assume if you’re not happy with your results, you can in short time upgrade the espresso machine.

Can someone remind me which model grinder that is?

Hey u/Inevitable_Shame4853 or Brother from another Mother, in this case!

I agree. The Grinder may be the most important gear.

Buyers of end game grinders might be like: I wanna buy an appliance, not a project.

  17. What is with these bambino machines is everyone a poor?

  18. you can have a good setup for 500. that grinder looks to be worth over that alone. higher $ does necessarily translate to a better coffee … as others say the beans are important

  19. Missconstruct

So, how much are we supposed to spend on the machine and all the accoutrements in order for it to be worthy of a really good bean? And, what would be considered a really good bean? I’m a beginner too.
