Cheapest meal I ever made at $0.64. Just took some leftover black beans with a microwaved pack of Ramen.

I hear you. I just ate peanut butter and jelly.

My (gender neutral) brother in (whatever deity or belief)
Throw that in a pan with some fat (butter, oil) and some garlic (and if available other spices). Add some egg to the leftover broth. Gourmet meal.

Always gotta keep cups of ramen during tough times. Cheap and quick

add an egg and a spoonful of peanut butter to the broth. sounds wrong, tastes insane, and now you’ve got actual protein for under a dollar

When I was younger I used to eat bean ramen. I’d put the beans in a food processor to make a sauce so every bite had bean sauce and noodle. Damn, now I’m really hungry for that. Thanks for the reminder.

I usually just make stir fry myself

You could probably go cheaper if you got a big bag of rice. More nutritious that way as well.

Omg I thought those were blueberries and was horrified

Italians have a similar dish. It’s pasta fagioli (pasta with beans). Basically you cook your beans and you add cooked pasta to it and there you go. When I was dirt poor I was eating either that or with peas. It was delicious.

I could see this going pretty hard if you took it in a focused direction. Maybe Mexican style with lime cilantro and skirt steak or chicken with hot chili crisp? Damn I’m getting hard just thinking about it

“Not bad, not bad..” seems to have some flavour and fiber.

Black beans. Instant mashed potatoes. Couple cut up sausages. Food for a week.

I thought those were olives! Hmmm… maybe there’s something there for those of us that hate beans!?!?
