A beloved French-inspired restaurant in Toronto has just opened a brand new sister location in the city.

Nestled on the iconic corner of Brunswick Avenue and Bloor Street in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood, Brasserie Côte comes from the team behind Côte de Bœuf, the city’s “local bistro bar à vin and traditional style butcher shop for the Trinity-Bellwoods area and beyond.”

At Côte de Bœuf, helmed by Teo Paul and Eamon O’Dea and located at 130 Ossington Ave., diners will find fresh oysters, charcuterie, duck breast rosé and, of course, côte de boeuf. And just as this spot runs on a walk-in only basis, so will Brasserie Côte.

Situated at 400 Bloor St. W., the new restaurant has now officially soft-launched. It will welcome in guests between 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. from Thursday through Saturday this March.

Inside, visitors can expect design elements like a zinc bar top and a vintage chandelier. And on the menu, diners can look forward to favourites from the Ossington restaurant in a much bigger space.

Before Brasserie Côte, this spot held Toronto’s historic By The Way Café for over 40 years before it closed in August of 2025.

But now, whether you’re a longtime fan of the Ossington original or are looking for a new spot in the city to try out, maybe Brasserie Côte will be next on your list of places to escape for a taste of France. Bon appétit!
