WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Wichita food truck owner is warning other food truck owners and vendors of a possible scam.
Sally Aguillar who owns El Gusto Mexican Eatery says she was contacted about setting up for Vintage Market next week at the Wichita Sports Forum. Aguillar was asked to fill out a vendor application and pay $150 to participate.
When she asked what other food trucks would be there, the man told her he would get back to her. The alleged organizer got back to her, mentioning several other local food trucks he said would be participating.

After checking, Aguillar learned those trucks were not actually involved. She did not send the alleged scammer any money.
The calls came from two out-of-state numbers, one from a Kansas City, Mo. area code, the other from the Fresno, California area.
Aguillar offered these reminders to other food truck owners and vendors:
Verify the event directly with the venue
Ask for an official website or event page
Confirm with other vendors if their names are being used
Be cautious if payment is requested through CashApp, Venmo, or other personal payment methods without contract
If you suspect a scam, hang up and report the call or message to local law enforcement.
