Ingredients:
½ pound bacon
2 large tomatoes, cut into thick slices
1 teaspoon sugar
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 head romaine, broken into leaves, washed and dried
4 slices white bread, toasted
2–3 tablespoons mayonnaise

Dressing:
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar + extra for sprinkling
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon water

Instructions:

Step 1 – Cook the bacon
Arrange bacon in a single layer in a skillet and add ¼ cup water. Simmer over medium heat until the water evaporates and the bacon becomes crispy, 10-15 minutes.

Step 2 – Make the dressing
In a bowl, whisk together the mustard and vinegar. Whisk in the olive oil and water until combined.

Step 3 – Prepare the vegetables
Season the tomato slices with sugar, salt, pepper, and a drizzle of dressing. Toss the romaine lettuce with some of the dressing so the leaves are lightly coated.

Step 4 – Assemble the BLT
Layer dressed lettuce on the bottom slices of toast. Add tomatoes, then bacon, then more lettuce. Spread mayonnaise on the top slices of bread and close the sandwich. Press gently, slice, and serve.

  1. 1:47 this is cool!!

When we think if sugar the thought is about a dessert

When we think of salt and pepper the thought is about something savoury

It is very surprising to learn that Sugar could season savoury ingredients, just to enhance the natural sugars from within

That is why she is The ICAG

    2:48 HellMann’s Mayo

But I am curious to know the differences of flavour between classic mayo and Kewpie Mayo

As well as if they’d be interchangeable

  2. Love a delicious BLT, but love a BELT even more lol. Thanks Alex for the share!🥓🍅🥬💕👍

  3. Blts we're already on my menu this week. Lots of good ideas with this video. Curious about the sugar on the tomatoes. Is that kind of like putting salt on watermelon?

  4. Oh my gah those tomatoes 😋. I can't see any restaurant ever giving you anything close. Looks delicious, thanks Alex! I think only Hellman's mayo has that blue cone within the clear top squeeze bottle.

  5. Oh, I love all those great tips!!
I’m a southerner and I usually use green tomatoes… sometimes fresh, sometimes fried.

  6. I can hear the mayo commercial now….."Bring out the [mayo brand name] and bring out the best." (Though, it has a different name here west of the Rockies in Southern California)

  7. Alex, you taught me something new today. That is a most interesting way of making a BLT. I never thought of that. Looks time consuming, but the taste, looks incredible.

  8. Wow have to try that also I’d need a clean shirt after that sandwich and that’s the best kind nice and juicy
