Been meaning to cross Sorrel off my SF list for a while now, finally got the chance to go yesterday. Menu ran a tiny bit small but I still had a great time start to finish. My main highlights were the tortelli, chawanmushi and 8 year old sourdough starter bread. Feels funny to be doing a winter tasting menu when its 70 degrees and sunny every day but I guess that's the beauty of california.
Hospitality was great as to be expected, had fun chatting with our servers they knew every dish inside and out. Was also pleasantly surprised to get a take home gift of the bon bon and citrus knot, got to end on a fun note!
(Sorry for the hazy pictures)

That looks great but the amount of supplements on the menu is wild. I don’t usually mind one or two, but 5? With one seeming to be a signature duck dish? That’s a bit much for me. Also at the bottom end charging $5 for an oyster? If you want me to eat an oyster, include it in the menu. I wanted to try this place but after seeing the menu I think not.
For some reason it doesn’t look pleasing to my eyes. What would you rate from 0-10?
One of my favorites hands down.
I’m slightly confused what the point of this menu is. Just fine dining for the sake of it. Seems very run of the mill and without a pov.
I really enjoyed Sorrel. It’s a great experience and not pretentious
Went a few years ago and food was just ok.
They also polished our wine glasses with a dirty cloth which left an odor. I kept sending the wine back until I realized it was the cloth. No apologies or anything.
