This dinner fed five adults for $2.56 per plate.

I used the other half of that $1.99 per pound pork loin, toasted whole coriander and cumin seeds, ground them fresh, rubbed the pork, seared it until GBD, then braised it low and slow in broth until tender. Rice and black beans on the side. Simple. Intentional. Budget controlled.

INGREDIENTS

Pork loin about 4 plus pounds
Half teaspoon whole coriander seeds
Half teaspoon whole cumin seeds
Olive oil
Salt
Black pepper
2 teaspoons Better Than Bouillon
2 cups water
2 bay leaves
White rice
Black beans

Total dinner cost 12.81
Five adults fed
No drive thru needed

Pair it with something smooth from Kokoro Spirits

  1. Two months ago I thought I'd try the jarlic. It's not worth the time saving or the money saving. I'll be back to buying garlic in a month when I finally run out of the sad jarlic. If you think garlic smells strong, (it's never bothered me) jarlic smells disgusting.
