Beginner Question: Should I separate them or is it survival of the fittest? They won’t fusion to one stronger plant each, right?

Pick the strongest from the pot and cut out the others, if you want to have more plants then pots, separate them

I don’t even plant more than one tomato seed per cell. They don’t like growing together and their stems will grow bent just to get away from the others. Most other plants aren’t like that. You can grow multiple peppers in the same cell and the trim out the stragglers to no ill effect, but with tomatoes, your “best” seedling is going to end up with that bent stem.

I plant older seeds two per 3/4″ x 3/4″ cell and cut out any extras (weaker or smaller) when the first true set of leaves appear.
Some cells both seeds sprout , a few only one, and some, none.
I cut and don’t pull to minimize disturbing the roots.
