West Lake Shores’ newest beachside venue, Mirani’s cafe, has been busy experimenting since its opening at the end of last year. After trialling two different menus in its early months, the cafe has landed on a third hybrid offering that they think is a winner.
The cafe is giving people a reason to head seaside with the new dinner offering which launched last week, incorporating Mediterranean-inspired dinners on Friday and Saturday nights, alongside a lively Taco Tuesday.
Owner Paul Paikos said the evolving menu has been part of finding the right fit for the venue and its coastal location. The new dinner offering is focused firmly on relaxed, beachside flavours.
“We’re by the beach, so we tried to get the flavours that people like by the beach,” Paul said.

Expect classic coastal favourites like barramundi, squid, chicken, fish and chips, alongside more unique dishes that Paul said you won’t often see on cafe menus. Corn ribs, crispy Brussel sprouts, stuffed peppers and tahini cauliflower fill the dinner menu with unique and fresh Mediterranean flavours. Churros on the dessert menu is also a delicacy rarely seen on cafe menus.
Groups can opt for the cafe’s ‘feed me’ menu, where the kitchen takes care of the ordering. Paul said he drew inspiration from high-end restaurants around Adelaide to create his vision for Mirani’s.
Taco Tuesday was introduced as a way to bring something a little different to the area. Paul said their chef is half American and half Mexican, growing up around the Mexican flavours has influenced the menu in a great way.
Driven by the cafe’s American head chef, the Taco Tuesday offering focuses on authentic street-style tacos made the traditional way. The team prepares everything in-house, including hand-pressed tortillas, fresh salsas and a slow-crafted birria sauce.
“The tacos are super delicious and super authentic,” Paul said. “Being by the beach is a fantastic location.”
“There’s plenty of free car parking at the front, ease of access and just an easy vibe outside.”
Alongside the new dinner menu, the cafe has also been introducing new drinks and sweet treats, including smoothies and an Oreo latte.

Looking ahead, there are already plans to further enhance the cafe’s beachside atmosphere. The team is currently working through council approvals to expand the outdoor dining area at the front of the venue, with a relaxed alfresco space which Paul said will enhance the vibe of the place.
Mirani’s Café may have only opened its doors late last year, but with its evening dining menu, Taco Tuesdays and plans to expand its alfresco space, the beachside venue is quickly carving out its place as a go-to local hangout.
