I kind of collect these! Haven’t bought one in forever, but they used to hang all over my kitchen.

Hell yeah! Post the finished products when you have them

My mother in law mailed me a bunch of these pans and a folder of the recipes from her mother. I didn’t get pics of them but we also have Big Bird, a Popple, a book and a flag.
I remember my friends having these homemade cakes as a kid and my husband and SIL fondly remember the dinosaur and the kitty from their childhood.
My little girl is so excited to make a dinosaur cake!
For recipes it looks like they were meant to be made with box cake mix so I included the buttercream recipe.

My mother took a Wilton cake decorating course in the early 1980s and her cakes were absolutely gorgeous!

I love them!

Mom never put shortening in frosting. Why does Wilton, what difference does it make?

This style of decorating is always so comforting (if that makes sense) bc if you are a person of a certain age it was EVERYWHERE as a kid. My sister’s SIL used to do these (and probably still does!) and she made a graduation cake for me an my college roommates. It had at least one spider on it (yay UR!) and it was perfect. She also made my now-22yo niece a really sweet Nemo back when niece was OBSESSED with that move as a little one.

I would fight a bear for that cat pan.

That buttercream recipe is the exact on Mom has used since the 80s. Great recipe and it holds up well for decorating

I still have my Wonder Woman cake pan 🙂

I used to decorate and sell cakes as a side during the 80s and 90s. Made my own and my son’s wedding cakes. Now I own over 20 cake pans, most of them Wilton. Have no idea what to do with all these cake pans!

Our local library has a large collection of these pans! We borrow one of the truck models every year for that special birthday and often when we go to a local house party we see a new cake. Your library might have some to loan, and if you have a few you’d like to donate that’s a good idea too.
