14 Tomato Varieties! 🍅
(Cherry, cocktail, truss, zebra, CdB, and more)
Sowed on January 24th using a heating mat (25-28 C, 100% RH). Most sprouted within 3–7 days. They’ve had light since day 1. After 3 days, I removed the plastic covers and moved them to small pots. Once the second true leaves were large enough, I transplanted them to their final pots they are in now.
Lighting
I just added a third 100W LED (about 200umol each), so I’m now running 3 lamps. Currently, they get 16 hours of light a day, which I’ll increase to 18 hours later. Temperatures are kept between 16-24 C.
Water & Nutrition
I water the larger plants every 4–5 days from below. I’m using a organic fertilizer with an EC of 3.0–3.5 (NPK 4-1-3). Since flowering has started, I’m now alternating with a more generative feed (NPK 3-1-5) to support the fruit set.
I remove all side shoots, and let all trusses set, but will do some pruning about -2 flowers per truss at cluster tomato and -4 at the cherry tomato.
I know I sowed quite early this year 😅. Still a few weeks to go before they can move outside, but they are looking strong.

I’d be interested to know when you start harvesting and if it’s any earlier than anyone in your area who’s planting smaller healthy/vigorous 6 or 8 week old seedlings. I’ve never found an advantage to planting big/older seedlings even with making sure I gave them proper lighting, nutrition and pot size.

you started yours 1 day after me. i’ve been sick last 2 weeks, so only repotted mine 2 nights ago. they are super short and fat lol…you’re so ahead of me. but i will be putting them out in the next couple days to harden anyway. what’s your soil mix? varieties?
They need to be repotted. The containers are too small.
