Hello, everyone!
The photo above shows my usual dinner, which is rice and soy sauce. The taste itself is actually good enough for me but I am having issues staying full for the whole night to do tasks such as homework.
What seasonings/ spices can I add to make me full for a longer amount of time?
I do add one boiled egg/noodles sometimes when I have a bit of an extra budget but I'd like to buy something that I can store and use for a longer period of time.
Context: I [F19] live in a college/ university dormitory that does not allow any form of cooking, we are then forced to eat outside or buy food from outside and eat them here.
Thank you!

Seasonings and spices wont typically make you more full.
Perhaps add some peas or beans.
You need protein to keep full. If you can microwave some chicken nuggets (or buy them from a fast food spot) and chop em up and mix that in, you’ll feel mych more full. No spices will make you more full.
Add butter, maybe some sardines, maybe some bonito flakes
You need to eat more than just rice
You need nutrition. Please don’t be embarrassed to seek out a food bank or other services that may be available to you (e.g., Sikh temples do wonderful charity and feed people in need)
Beans or something high protein.
Do you not have a meal plan?
Regardless, look into furikake seasoning to add more flavor. Also, pouched chicken or tuna is a great way to quickly and easily add some protein to a struggle meal like this.
Canned tuna, salmon, or chicken would help as would canned beans. None of those need to be cooked.
Tuna, furikake, roasted seaweed, cucumber, avocado, kimchi
A small can of tuna or some cut up bits of summer sausage.
You’re going to have some serious health issues if this is all you eat. You need more fiber and protein. If money is tight go to your local food pantry or find free food boxes in your area and get some cans of food. You can add beans or veggies, pre hard boiled eggs, cheese. These things will help you stay full.
Edit: spelling
quick question op, are you allowed to have something like a rice cooker to make whats in the picture or is that takeout rice? im a chef so i wanna make sure im suggesting the right ingredients for your situation.
Grab a bag of frozen veggie and add that. Any veggies you like.
are you allowed a rice cooker at least? if yes, you can get a host of recipes online for rice cooker meals. you can’t eat plain rice with spices. that’s just carbs. like eating plain spaghetti with salt. you need more nutrients – vitamins minerals protein. if you had a rice cooker, everything could get cooked there.
if even a rice cooker is not allowed, how about a kettle for water? that would then give you options for noodle soups or porridge and oatmeal. plus any vegs that can get cooked with just hot water. sample – instant rice plus green leaves like spinach or cabbage. instant noodles, plus canned corn. if you have asian stores near you, there are such things called pork floss and chicken floss. these are dried and powdered pork and chicken that go with carbs quite well.
Can you buy a small air fryer or is that not allowed as well?
Some smashed cucumber, marinated in soya, rice vinegar and chili flakes.

Not for necessarily for whole recipe’s, but also for typical cheap ingredients.
He uses things like rice, beans, potatos etc. cheap hardy ingredients and makes filling meals.
if you can find any canned tuna, preshredded veggies and canned beans, then it should be a very filling meal
UYY PHILIPPINES!
Taga saan ka OP? Which university? I know a lot of Philippine university dorms are strict with storing food; do they allow any sort of food warmer? Is there a common area?
It looks like you’re on a very tight budget, OP. There are options on what you can add, but it depends on how much you can spend. You said you’re already buying your cooked rice in a karinderya, they usually also sell other dishes that you can eat along with your rice.
Have you considered boiled sweet potatoes instead of cooked rice? It may make you feel full longer.
You’re basically just getting carbs. That won’t make you full for very long. You need to add fat and protein to keep you full for longer. For protein, beans, chickpeas, etc are good, if you can’t cook. They are better warm, but you can eat them cold (or room temperature) from the can if needed. For fat, add some flavourful oils, like sesame.
Wow ulam or 555. Theres lots of flavors to chose from and no need to cook. Check out your local grocery. Classmate ko dati agrentina beef loaf kahit walang luto hahaha
Good luck op!
I checked your profile and saw you’re from the PH. Add Star Margarine (cheaper alternative to butter), garlic and some Magic Sarap. Dump 1-2 eggs in. Put some sliced ham, hotdog or chicken nuggets or depends on what meat you have in the fridge. A 200g bag of frozen carrot and peas also only costs 45 pesos.
Get a can of tuna and some mayo
Frozen peas will give you some fiber and protein which will keep you full longer! Just pop like two handfuls in your bowl, and microwave to heat up. You can also do canned tuna which provides a lot of protein and healthy fats that your brain NEEDS to functions. Tuna is relatively cheap, and stays good for a long time when the can is unopened. Just be careful about getting the cans with pull tabs if you don’t have a can opener. You can do canned refried beans (again, more protein and fiber that will keep you full), and add salsa to your bowl of rice, and if it’s in the budget, you can add Mexican cheese. These are just a few simple, cheap, and healthy ideas 🙂 Good luck with your studies! Oh, I also suggest keeping some cucumber on hand that you can just slice and add to your rice bowls. Cucumber has a lot of water, so it is very hydrating.
You’re getting very little nutrition from this meal. Basic rules for Humans staying alive and healthy is to eat 50% carbs, 25% fruits/vegetables and 25% protein.
You’ve got the carbs portion done easily. You need to be more concerned with the greens and protein.
Canned veggies are ok, they do have some nutrition cooked out of them already.
Beans are a good protein source.
Any combination of veggies and beans mixed with rice should be very tasty.
Literally anything.
