Im buzzing literally and figuratively.
After a bunch of research I belive I got the best bang for my buck combo. Brand new Bambino on marketplace for $300 CAD + applied a work gift card to get the DF54 for $235 on Amazon. Absolutely steal.
Went from Nespresso at work and Nescafe at home (I judge myself for this) to a Bambino & DF54…massive upgrade.
Live next to a Bean Around the World if you guys have any suggestions! I like smooth carmel nutty notes.

I recently got the DF54 and I have been liking it. Lots of range and no issues so far.
Yah no doubt. I’d suggest a 64 if budget allows, but this is the cream of the crop of budget setups.
This is my setup, and it’s great. Even got the bambino refurbished to save a little extra. I’m casually into espresso, so I’m struggling to find a reason to upgrade unless something decides to die.
been considering the df54 to upgrade my standard baraza how’s it do?
i have the bambino too
I have the Sage Express and a df54 and it’s a great set up – bambino even better because you aren’t ‘wasting’ the space the Express grinder takes – the difference between the Express grinder and the df54 is night and day – you’ve done well
Metal dosing cup and you’re good to go
Check out Monogram La Laguneta
I went the exact same route and have been very happy. I upgraded the portafilter to a bottomless one and a much better spring loaded tamper.
My same set up! Does the job, and can’t find a reason to spends hundreds more for what seems like diminishing returns.
Yes.
Ive has this over a year. multiple coffees a day and still going strong
I have this set up and I love it. I also got it for the space saving reasons but it’s a solid coffee station for the price. I second someone’s comment to get a metal dosing cup, less static and if you get on that’s the right size of your portafilter it makes the transfer as simple as setting it on top and flipping it over. The one that comes with the d54 is for bigger portafilters.
I’m not even sure at this point. So many recs for the DF54 that get upvoted. But then you scroll down the thread and many more individually say the machine is overhyped and underdelivers. I have no rat in this race, I’m just curious on one of the biggest discrepancies I’ve noticed.
Yesssssssssir I’m one the many here with the same setup
DF54 better than the Fellow Opus? Been debating on a few diff grinders.
I recently got a Bambino Plus and a D54 v3. Extremely happy. Delicious coffee is mine!
I have a Bambino, its been great. I already had a Breville Smart Grinder Pro, so, if it ever kicks the can, a DF54 could be on my counter or something else.
The only thing that I changed on the Bambino was the shower screen. I installed the IMS screen.
And I got a 54mm bottomless portafilter and a basket from IMS: H25C.
Same here! Great setup. It is taking me a bit longer to get the extract time that I would like. Going to switch to manual instead of automatic.
This is the way..
