The McLaren Vale region has been featured on two dedicated episodes of the “internationally renowned” Wine Blast podcast, hosted by UK-based Susie Barrie MW and Peter Richards MW.

The McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association said that Richards’s decision to visit the region in October 2025 and create two episodes of the podcast “is a powerful endorsement of the McLaren Vale’s standing among the world’s most premium wine regions”.

‘McLaren Vale: Boxer to Ballerina’ is the first episode focusing on the region, examining “the stylistic transformation of McLaren Vale wines – including its long-time hero variety Shiraz – tracing the journey from bold, powerful expressions to more poised, medium-bodied wines defined by balance, brightness and coastal freshness”. It details how “maritime influence, old vines and thoughtful winemaking are positioning McLaren Vale as a leader in reshaping global perceptions of Australian wine”.

The second episode, ‘McLaren Vale: The Grenaissance’ delves into how the region has emerged as “one of the world’s most exciting regions for Grenache” and is “leading the Australian revival” of a previously overshadowed variety. The episode explores the combination of ancient bush vines, sandy soils and a coastal mediterranean climate has enabled the region to “unlock Grenache’s true potential”.

Barrie praised the region’s “extraordinary energy and sense of place”, whilst Richards noted the “clarity, freshness and precision” of modern McLaren Vale wines.

In the first month of release, the McLaren Vale episodes achieved over 20,000 unique downloads and an engagement rate of 60-70%, “demonstrating genuine global interest in the region’s unique story”.

The McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association encourages Australians to listen, share, and even experience McLaren Vale for themselves to discover “the place behind the praise”.

The episodes are available via all major podcasting platforms, including Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
