Midlife crisis hits hard so I went to Tokyo to roam around. Nothing planned, just took a couple of weeks off. Been here a few times and it’s definitely the one place where I can mentally reset. Seeing how organized everything is brings calmness over my chaotic life in US. I‘m an atheist but I love going to Buddhist/Shinto temples/shrines, it‘s a solemn experience each time.
I booked a random Airbnb in Toshima City. It‘s my second day and I don’t have the motivation to go anywhere. This afternoon, walked around the neighborhood and saw a yakiniku place. I felt that God sent me there (again I’m an atheist lol). I ordered their most premium meat on the menu and a bottle of soju. When that meat hit my mouth, I swear it’s heavenly. I was smiling to myself the whole time, staff must have thought I’ve gone mad. No food has ever made me feel that good… it’s also the soju hitting me hard too lol. I only stopped as the soju crept up on me, and I didn’t want to vomit the most delicious tasting meat that I’ve ever eaten.
sorry for the long post, I’m still a bit tipsy.
