East coast also has a skinless version. Found these at Sunnyvale and it was marked as pork shabu shabu. It's thinner than the traditional 4-6mm, but if you like thinner style it's fantastic at $5/lb

Looks so so good. Probably unpopular opinion but ssam feels incomplete to me without rice

it IS frealing sad seeing kbbq overseas represented with only cheap pork. if you choose to go for beef, there is a new WORLD you can explore.

Guess I’m going to Costco and H Mart tonight….

That’s exactly what I bought it for! I cut mine in half. And seperated them into 1 lb bags.

perilla leaf is no where near spicy, it just has a unique pungently herby taste, Breading and deep frying those leaves are also a great way to serve them.

Careful with these they’re fine but my local Costco sold it with skin on. Some might like that but I did not

Grunions are burrowing fish we have here in California. It’s called the ‘grunion run’ when they’re around. They’re in between an anchovy and sardine. You just go and collect them.

We’ve used this for samgyeopsal, everyone else loved it.

For me, it was too thin. So I purchased some of the thicker pork belly chunks and cut my own to have a mix. Everyone else loved it too!

I hope our club keeps these permanently. I cut the skin off and boiled the strips of skin and then fried them crispy.

  11. I would’ve gotten smacked by a coworker back in the day for grilling the meat like that. You have to lay them flat in neat, tidy rows and flip them over one at a time (and only once). Stirring them like that causes the meat to curl up, which makes it harder to layer in a 쌈/lettuce wrap. That’s why the grub of the group is always on meat-cooking duty!
