My buddy sent me this snap from his St Paddy’s day dinner at a brewery
I said it looks extremely dry and flavorless and he said "that's the dish though"

I hope the buffet was free. This looks like strip club food.

it’s kinda true but that’s way too lean anyhow
TheDreamIs0ver
As someone who grew up with an Irish Grandmother, that looks about right.

The most dry corn beef I’ve ever seen
PGHxplant
Needs mustard, but yeah, it’s a celebration of a peasant feast. The shittiest thing to me here is that they trimmed all the delicious and nourishing fat away and didn’t at least drizzle some of the boiling liquid on it.
DesignerCorner3322
a well made one of these will not be dry and will not be flavorless. The little seasoning packet they give you ain’t enough you gotta add more, and honestly needs onion
One_Print_595
looks like some solid jerky to me
Glassesguy904
New England Boiled dinner fixed this malarkey. My great grandmother switched to that and never looked back.

Are they remembering the days of the famine?

What happened to all the fat? That’s where the flavor really lives
Sophisticated-Crow
Yikes, this looks dry even for flat cut(always get the point cut if you can find it, folks. That’s where the tasty fat is and the meat is more tender).

Strangely enough I think this is objectively a good photo even if the subject ain’t much to look at!
FeeSharp745
Ive seen many like this. S&P, and then drowning it in white vinegar was always the play. I would eat that right now I will not lie. Usually much more cabbage.

This was a luxury to people and still to some is, were spoiled af and a boiled meal might not rouse the tastebuds of some but it survived some tough mother fuckers, a breed of people who would run circles around us scummy fucks of the computer age.

Yep, looks like the abominations my Irish mother called food

jaycookiecutler
Pass me a slice of buttered bread and some mustard, sauce or at least salt. and that wouldn’t be bad at all. I wouldn’t complain, especially after some beers.
