I love him, but HOW?!
I looked at the tamped espresso and knew something was wrong, so I flipped over the tamper and saw this! I asked my fiancé what happened, and he said “I don’t know! The beans came out wet.”
I never know what kind of weird thing is going to happen when he makes coffee haha

Maybe he was tamping potting soil??
Better clean the grinder before it’s clogged up with coffee butter.
Sooooo how big is your portafilter?!
Comprar um tamper normal
Did he tamp after he pulled a shot?
Because it has grooves. If you set it in any water that happens. Just dry it off real good.
Do you spray your beans before grinding them? Could it just be residual static? I get this on some of my coffees as well but not to this extreme.
Too much RDT? That or the tamper was wet.
I had the same problem. Press it, then turn the tamper, and then release.
Maybe he over WDT’d- Watered Da Tamper.
When were the beans roasted?
Must have wiped the tamper with damp cloth
The tamper was wet. I’ve set it down on the cleaning matt after rinsing it off and this happens, even with an entirely flat tamper.
Check your grinder, “the beans came out wet….” Lord knows what else was done.
Can second – as others have said either the beans or tamper were wet (speaking from unfortunate experience 🫠)
Maybe a little overzealous with the RDT?
Less RDT
Wet tamper. This is why I opted for a flat tamper rather than a textured one… It makes a cool pattern on the top of your puck but drying out the grooves is a pain in the butt.
I literally had a nightmare of this last night
He used a ridged tamper. Tell him not to do that.
this is partly why i rarely wash the tamper (but when i do, i do a good job including drying it well)
i’m also lazy though, and a terrible filthy monster. i’d post a video showing my workflow, i’m proud of it and it’s interesting in a few ways, but i’m sure commentary would devolve to me being a dirtiboi
Time for a new butler.
This happens to me sometimes as well depending on the beans, though it’s usually not to this extreme. I completely regret getting a ridged tamper.
Weaponized incompetence
Wet tamper, the beans just stuck to the tamper dry it beforehand and try again
Clean it witch some alcohol. My Normcore tamper collects oily coffee like a mf
