Anyone used this before? My wife is concerned it'll ruin 304 SS grates? Thoughts? Thanks.

Please use anything else but these metal bristles brush, there’s a chance it breaks off and gets lodged inside the food. All it takes is just 1 tiny bristle and can ruin someone’s health.

Don’t do it. If you do I hope your whole family has good health insurance

I agree with the others telling you not to, but . . . They are fine on stainless grates.

    Edit: spelling

Don’t use wire brush cleaners. The bristles can break off and get lodged in your food, requiring surgery.

Use some tin foil, an onion, a water soaked cloth, whatever, just avoid the metal bristles.

Google it if you think it’s just a myth

I have one of these and liked using it alot last year, I also have 304 SS grates. No, these shouldn’t damage the SS grate at all, and if they do, well… they’re grill grates, they’re not going to stay pretty forever.

I have since bought a BBQ Daddy from Costco even though the wire brush I had still works perfectly and works better than the BBQ Daddy in my opinion. BUT the reason I got the new brush after reading this sub, is these wire brushes can lose their wires and stick to the grates unknowingly, so the food you cook could potentially get one of the wires in it and make your bbq a potential medical emergency. That risk, though seemingly low, seems unnecessary so I got the new brush.

Costco had brush daddies on sale, we just picked it up but grill season hasn’t started so we haven’t used it yet.

But as others have said, no wire brushes.

Get the BBQ daddy. It works great! I was really surprised, just make sure to follow the directions and put it in a bowl of ice water first.

Just use the coil metal ones, not bristles.
