Overnight oats made in old ice cream containers. Been using them for months. No need for “dedicated” jars for it. Just wash and reuse.

  1. As long as it’s #5 plastic (polypropylene) or glass, you’re golden.

I sometimes use mason jars that are shaped like mugs because then when you heat it, you don’t have to handle the hot jar.

They freeze great. Just don’t put them in the microwave. It won’t end well.

Awesome! Their containers are nice & sturdy. I know we’re supposed to be using only glass but I do similar. I figure better to reuse a handful of times before sending it to a landfill.

    Now I want talenti!

I saved a couple of those containers and I use them to let my girls paint. Water in the containers to rinse the brushes and paint goes in the upside down lid

The idea that reusing a container for meal prep could be considered a “hack”… Is on the level of saving napkins or refilling ketchup bottle with packets, or using plastic grocery bags for your bathroom bin. This just regular stuff.

Ultralight long distance backpackers have been eating out of cold soaked food in talenti jars for years.

Make sure you hand wash those containers..I put mines in the dishwasher and they melted.

Have you considered an old cool whip container? /s

Just go to dollar tree & spend $3 on 2 glass mason jars. I feel like the microplastic thing should be common sense at this point.

I once made the mistake of pouring hot soup into a Talenti jar. It melted and ruined my homemade soup. I now use glass mason jars for soups. I use Talenti jars for beans.

Gotta say the comments here are surprising! My general POV is these containers were already made and used for the product. I’d think a re-use is a great idea. And as to nano particles or smaller plastic particles by the time we heard about this it’s already too late for us and our children. We are already loaded up. And all we can do is call it out and not buy anything more that will shed the plastics. At some point it would be nice to think just maybe capitalists will stop most production of plastics and go to solid containers that biodegrade safely or are safe to recycle. And of course massively recycle on a gigantic level.

  12. Side note: that Roman Raspberry is fucking incredible.

I love reusing these containers too, but for screws and nails, sewing supplies, paint, etc, not things that go in my body. I recommend switching to glass for food to reduce microplastic exposure
