My Matu Philly Cheesesteak was nothing like the Philly cheesesteaks I had in Philly, but to be fair, it was GOOD. But was it $24 worth GOOD?

Considering that a footlong Steak Philly sub at my neighborhood Subway is $14 these days ☠️, maybe $24 for a damn good cheesesteak isn't so outrageous? 😬 I'd say $20 sounds more reasonable, but what do I know?

I also got their potato chips, which were delicious, and washed it all down with a Mexican Coke.

We got there at 11:30 a.m. right when the place opened, and there was already a line. 2 hours later, there was still a line.

I’ve had two experiences… The first one was excellent and the second was good, but a bit greasy.

My verdict is that for high-quality meat, high-quality bread, high-quality prep in a high-quality restaurant, the price is perfectly fair.

How long did you end up waiting?

We just tried them for the first time yesterday too.

We ordered to go around 130 and it took maybe 30 mins.

I do want to call out that it’s not a 24 dollar sandwich. It’s actually more of a 31 dollar sandwich. Even if you order out they charge a 20% fee and tax.

Imo it was a good sandwich but absolutely not worth the price. Needs to be around 20 bucks all in.

This is the first time someone posted it and you can actually see the cheese. Looks good.

If it is selling well then the price is warranted

That looks amazing but, for $24 it’s 2 burritos idk. Maybe I will still check this out

I was surprised at how flavorful the whole thing was after seeing the pics everywhere. it tastes better than the pics look, if that makes sense. Also, I don’t find the price that bad for an every once in a while thing, because the quality was excellent. just my two cents! these are on the permanent rotation for me, though not very often – edit: wanted to mention that although delivery is obv more expensive, but they do hold up pretty well if you go that route. getting them fresh is still better though

I’d be mad. That lack of meat is offensive, at any price point.

At the higher end, they are just laughing at you.

It is to me the best sandwich in existence. Bar none.

$30 for a sandwich? You mine as well go to Malibu to Paradise Cove Beach cafe for a $30 burger. At least there you have a good view of the beach!

Does anyone else know where I can get a good philly cheese steak for cheaper without extra mandatory fees

  12. Tilopud_rye

The price justification is assuming $14 for Subway is reasonable…

  13. lazydaymagician

Thats a pretty chintzy amount of meat

  14. Emotional-Photo-642

This looks delicious.. made me wanna have someeeeee

  15. lathrowawaybnr

Ggiata one is slightly less good but a lot cheaper so I do it more

It’s so good. It’s expensive but it’s like a filet. And cheaper than a restaurant filet. Just enjoy it and don’t compare it o anything g else. It’s affordable for most even asa splurge. It’s heaven man

I want one of these so bad. I can’t wait for the one by me to open up.

People just have to accept Los Angeles prices for things. If you don’t want to pay for it, fair.

Fuck you very much…. I’ve been trying to make it there from the SFV. I ended up at Charlie’s because it’s closer

  20. aspiringanarchist49

People seem to forget that they bake their own bread and that’s a game changer. I’d pay double.

  21. tyshorr

Meanwhile in Philly you get 2x the portion for 1/2 the price

  22. getwhirleddotcom

Anyone had one from the OG BH spot lately?

  23. Steeeveede

Way too bougie. Go to Boos. Get the Cheese Whiz. No fees, $17, get lotsa napkins.

  24. Exotic-Advantage

The difference between Matu and other cheap cheesesteaks is the bread (made in house), the meat (its wagyu) and the cheese (aged white cheddar). As you know wagyu is considerably more expensive than whatever beef is in cheesesteaks and at 14$, it’s not prime.

  25. lightsareoutty

I don’t like that bread to protein ratio.

  26. sargien

Gotta mention that it’s WAGYU BEEF bro

  27. Jumpy_Implement_1902

As long as they got customers out the door, keep on raising the prices…

I’d never pay more than 10 bucks for a Philly cheesesteak, but that’s probably why I haven’t had one in years

  28. lightningdad23

It’s terrible, I wouldn’t even call it a cheesesteak. The roll is too hard, the steak too fatty and the cheese… it’s either wiz or provolone not aged cheddar. GTFO.
