COVINGTON, La (press release) –  Feliciana Bistrôt and Paradise Cocktail Lounge, the latest ventures from BRG Hospitality, have officially opened in Downtown Covington at the former Star Theater. The two concepts – which the team shares are inspired by Walker Percy’s exploration of belonging, identity and the modern Southern experience – are led by Chef Patrick Teagle and General Manager Olivier Court.

“Walker Percy has always been one of my favorite authors because he understood that who we are is tied to where we come from,” said BRG Hospitality co-owner and co-founder Chef John Besh. “Felicana and Paradise are my way of honoring the place where I was born and raised – and that continues to shape who I am today – brought to life by a team that shares that same creative passion and connection to this community.”

Feliciana Bistrôt offers a thoughtful take on the classic French bistro, weaving together French culinary technique with locally sourced ingredients from “God’s Country.” From oysters and seasonal seafood to traditional dishes like Rabbit Fricassee and Pâté de Campagne, the goal is not to impress through excess, but to serve food that is an intentional, balanced and satisfying labor of love.

Upstairs, Paradise Cocktail Lounge presents a hidden world of imaginative mixology and small bites. Part French café, part Southern study, part whimsical jungle den – the lounge encourages guests to linger a little longer while overlooking the heart of Downtown Covington.

Before stepping into a professional kitchen, Chef Patrick Teagle, a Texas native raised in Fort Smith, Arkansas, was working behind a bank counter. Cooking evolved from a creative outlet into a calling, and in 2020, he left his position as a bank teller and enrolled at the New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute to formally pursue his passion.

Teagle shared he has always felt connected to South Louisiana. His father met his mother in New Orleans, and frequent childhood trips to the city quietly shaped his appreciation for the region’s vibrant food, culture and the way it brings people together. His culinary journey with BRG Hospitality began at Domenica, where he rose from prep cook to Sous Chef. He went on to refine his skills at Restaurant August before returning to Domenica as Executive Sous Chef. Known for fostering an environment grounded in curiosity, growth and playful excellence, he also volunteers at his culinary alma mater, mentoring aspiring chefs and helping them discover their own path.

“Cooking gave me purpose, and New Orleans gave me direction,” said Teagle. “Feliciana and Paradise feel like a natural extension of that. It is about celebrating where we are and who we are in spaces that are sophisticated yet approachable.”

Complementing Teagle’s culinary vision is General Manager Olivier Court, who brings more than 13 years of hospitality experience shaped by his Parisian upbringing and summers in the southwest countryside near Bordeaux. From shucking oysters on the beach with his grandparents to learning the nuances of wine from his father, Court’s early experiences instilled a philosophy rooted in authenticity, pride and storytelling.

“The first time I visited Louisiana, it was love at first sight,” said Court. “There was a sense of familiar comfort in the culture, food and people. Feliciana and Paradise allow me to extend that connection here in Covington. It’s our love letter to the community, and I’m honored to put a smile on their faces while showcasing the Southern-French traditions I grew up with.”

Before his journey to the Northshore, Court has held leadership roles across New York and New Orleans, including Restaurant Captain at the three-Michelin-starred Le Bernardin, General Manager of N7 and Director of Service for the Emeril Restaurant Group, where he was instrumental in executing the vision of Chef Emeril and E.J. Lagasse’s flagship relaunch.

Now, Chef Patrick and Court invite guests to experience Feliciana and Paradise’s immersive, character-driven space, blending moody elegance and a quietly whimsical Southern-French spirit with Covington’s downtown charm. The building’s intentional design was realized in collaboration with architecture and interior design firms EskewDumezRipple and Southern Interior Solutions, ensuring every detail supports Walker Percy’s intellectual world.
