Size aside, the flavor needs some work. It's a touch too salty, could use more moisture, and another hit of sweetness wouldn't hurt. The topping has a nice nutty quality, almost baklava-like, which is a highlight — but overall it lands at good, not great.

IYKYK: nothing touches the LAUSD Coffee Cake recipe. And for store-bought, Krusteaz Box Mix and Pepperidge Farm Coconut Cake are still the reigning champs. Better options exist at a fraction of the price.
