TOWN OF PAMELIA, New York (WWNY) – Despite the snow on the ground and lack of sunshine, Friday marks the first day of spring.

It also means a North Country ice cream stand is open for the season.

Cowlick Ice Cream on Route 3 in the town of Pamelia traditionally tries to open by the first day of spring every year, bringing ice cream lovers a taste of the warmer weather to come.

Dedicated customers were there for what is likely the first of many visits this season.

“We come here kind of often, probably once a week once it gets warm out. After school, we like to come,” said Jaden Pomerville.

Cowlick is open seven days a week from noon to 9 p.m.
