It’s been a while since I’ve food reddit’d, so sorry if this is redundant (be nice) :). The sun is shining and I’m in a good mood, so I thought I’d take a break from my computer screen to share my experience at Hermon’s !
Here’s what we ordered:
Yellowfin Tuna Crudo
I swear every restaurant in LA has tuna crudo on the menu regardless of cuisine, and if it’s there I’m ordering it. This one was actually really good! one of the better versions I’ve had recently.
Garlic Bread *Must order
Just get it. Don’t think about it. Even if you have to take some home. Buttery, crispy, and a really fun take on garlic bread. I loveeeeeeed it and I’m excited to heat some up for lunch
Citrus Salad
Very citrusy and fruit-forward with goat cheese and a tangerine dressing that I loved. Good, refreshing, but not necessarily a must-order.
Loaded Potato Fritters *Must order
Thinly sliced potatoes topped with what felt like a mountain of cream cheese, parmesan, bacon, and chives. These were honestly fantastic. Must order.
Fried Coconut Tiger Prawns
Last-minute add and I’m glad we did it. Sweet chili sauce + cilantro. Exactly what you imagine but done really well.
Two Sheet Vongole *Must order
Probably the most unique dish we had. It’s basically two giant sheets of pasta with clams, cream, parm, and breadcrumbs. Never had anything quite like it and I thought it was really delicious.
Whole Grilled Branzino
Charred nicely and topped with Calabrian chili, dill, and a lemony aioli. Very solid fish dish.
Ode to Chez Cheeseburger
This is the thing they’re known for. We were already extremely full but had to try it. Solid burger on a sesame bun. Loved that it had Dijon mustard Worth it.
Skillet Cookie
At this point we were pushing the limits but got dessert anyway. It’s basically a high-end pizookie thick, gooey chocolate chip cookie. If you still have room, get it.
Drinks
Had a martini and a yuzu margarita — both great.
Total: ~$370 including tip.
Yes it’s expensive, but also… who is going to a dimly lit restaurant in LA to save money?
Overall: really fun meal, beautiful space, and a few dishes I’d definitely go back for.
