No other French restaurant in the city is doing seafood like Caché. The low-key Sunset spot is where to go for unique dishes like a “surf and turf” crudo with chopped oysters and beef tartare, or a sea bream sashimi served inside the fish it came from (head and all).

To see the full extent of Caché’s marine mastery, show up for dinner. You can see the fuzzy silhouettes of heads turning in the dim lighting whenever that sashimi is paraded by. And your entire table might break into a chorus of gasps after one bite of the melty skate wing. But don’t worry, this isn’t the kind of place where people will glare if you’re outwardly enthusiastic about fish—instead you’ll probably end up swapping ordering strategies with the table over.

Even if your heart rate isn’t spiked by the words “on the half shell,” a table at Caché is worth seeking out. It’s the neighborhood’s best spot for an unrushed, mollusk-fueled date, or a long lunch spent making prolonged eye contact with a lobster roll.

Same-day tables are usually easy to get, but if you aren’t able to get one, try your luck at the bar.

Food RundownSea Bream Sashimi

Our favorite dish here. The olive oil-kissed sea bream is simply prepared and neatly placed back into the body of the fish.

Surf And Turf Crudo

A one-two punch of salt and brine. If you’re not a bivalve devotee, you probably won’t like this—but if you’re someone who throws back oysters like it’s an Olympic sport, welcome to your happy place.

Lobster Roll

Coming here during the day means you get access to their pudgy lobster roll, which is finished off with a layer of pickled onions and perfectly dispersed herbs. The meat’s chopped fine, giving the creamy dressing more surface area to cling to—a win in our book.

Satay Potatoes

These are served on the side of most lunchtime entrees, and they’re incredible. They’re soft enough to be a post-wisdom teeth removal staple. Splash the provided hot sauce all over these and go to town.

Octopus Hot Dog

Another solid daytime offer—though we’d pick the lobster roll over this one. The hunks of octopus get slightly outstaged by the thick drizzle of mango curry mayonnaise.

Skate Wing

Order this. The ridiculously flaky fish has golden-brown edges, lemony grenobloise, and teensy croutons for added crunch.

Iberico Pork

We’ve talked a lot about seafood. But if you’re going to get a meat entree, make it this pile of pork. We could eat an entire side dish of the carrot puree, which incorporates a gentle sweetness to every bite.

Warm Cookie

The hard truth is that this chocolate chip cookie with sweet almond gelato and a caramelized halo will run you $23. But onto the good news: it’s f*cking fantastic. If everyone only take a few bites, you could split this with up to three other people.
