This popular Winter Park restaurant is about to open new locations

WINTER PARK, Fla. – After being ranked the best Italian restaurant in Florida last year, Prato in Winter Park has announced it plans to expand.

In a release, a spokesperson for the restaurant told News 6 that the Winter Park-based eatery will open its first new location in Bethesda, Maryland.

This new location will be coming to Bethesda Row in fall later this year, though a specific opening date hasn’t been shared at this time.

However, the release shows that this is only the first step in a broader national brand expansion.

“We’ll open in Nashville in early 2027, and we’re negotiating deals right now in other major markets,” said Scott Bowman, CEO of Prato’s parent company Park Lights Hospitality. “But right now, our focus is on joining the already thriving dining scene in Bethesda this fall and delivering our blend of exceptional Italian food and hospitality.”

Per the release, the Maryland location will also feature many of the signature design elements found in the flagship Winter Park location, including brick, warm wood, “thoughtful” lighting, and a distinctive use of rich textures.

“Prato Winter Park is a special room,” Bowman added. “You feel the energy as soon as you walk in, and from there, it’s easy to settle in — whether you’re engaging with friends at the table or meeting new ones at the bar. Our goal is to recreate that feeling in Bethesda.”
