Downtown San Antonio is filled with decadent eats. There’s plenty to eat and drink along the River Walk, but you may be in dire straits if you’re looking for a healthy bowl of greens.
Owner Muhammet Ikbal Baylan, who opened the first Bowls N Go in Alamo Ranch, is bringing fresh salads and bowls to a second outpost at Make Ready Market, a bustling food hall along the San Antonio River near Brooklyn and Broadway.
Make Ready Market, which was first announced in 2022, hosts several eateries and a bar. You’ll find a plethora of options from Eet Up burgers and arepas at Four Brothers, to fried chicken goodness at Thai Bird and juices at Buje Bev Co.
Bowls N Go brings a mix of signature bowls and wraps as well as make-your-own options where customers can choose between grains or greens as a base; shredded lamb, beef, spicy meatballs, grilled or curry chicken or falafel; and a wide variety of dips and toppings to round out their bowl or wrap.
And yes, there’s baklava if your sweet tooth kicks in.
Per the owner, Bowls N Go was searching for the “right location” before coming to the downtown area.
“We knew there was a lack of healthy food options in the city center, but we hadn’t found the right location—until Make Ready Market opened. As a locally owned business, we wanted to be here to provide fresh, high-quality meals,” Baylan said.
Bowls N Go is open Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Make Ready Market fully opened in December 2023. The hall recently underwent some cosmetic additions, to make way for Bowls N Go. A small makers market is located across the way from the eatery. Pescado Bravo, one of the opening eateries for the hall, recently called it quits at Make Ready this January but teased future endeavors.
